Gorgon Domestic Pipeline tied to the Mainland

The Gorgon Project reached a significant achievement when the domestic gas (DomGas) pipeline which will connect Barrow Island to the mainland was successfully tied in to the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP) Inlet Facility.

The installation was finalised when the last tie-in weld was completed up to the DBNGP Inlet Facility. This weld was the last of 7,410 welds carried out on the pipeline.

Starting from the T6 jetty caisson at Barrow Island, the Java Constructor and the Kalinda pipelay barges have laid 59.4km of 20” pipeline offshore, 12km of pipeline has been installed in the intertidal zone and a further 19.8km of terrestrial pipeline up to the DomGas Meter Station and continuing on to the tie-in at the DBP Inlet Facility. At peak construction, approximately 400 personnel were involved in the installation of the pipeline with more than 900,000 site man-hours utilised in total. The offshore section of the DomGas pipeline is stabilised by concrete weight coating on the outside of the pipe. Secondary stabilisation of the pipeline by a combination of trenching, rock bolting and rock dumping has also been completed with more than 1290 rock bolt pairs being installed by specially designed subsea rigs.

Congratulations to DomGas Team

We have achieved a milestone with the completion of installing 1293 rockbolts on the Domgas pipeline and complete the penultimate offshore campaign for the Domgas Project. Well done to the team who worked in a well-coordinated subsea and deck operation to produce consistency and reliability to execute the rockbolting campaign following true IIF principles.

With the last remaining campaign being organized offshore, we remind everyone to bring home the final leg of the project in a safe manner ensuring everyone goes home as they came to work with the environment in the same state.

Well done to the team and keep up the good work.
